Beneath the Ghoul Lair is

Almost Complete!

Our Kickstarter for Beneath the Ghoul Lair
has ended successfully with 150% funding! We were not sure what to expect, but it turned out very well with a good number of last-minute backers that got us up to and over that $5,000 mark. It was an exciting night!

The books have been printed and delivered and all that's left is the bonus stretch goal that we added: The Westgate Adventures! Module Monster Compilation. As I write this, it is 90% edited and should be back in my hands shortly for a final round of work and then a release into the hands of backers. The module monster book is a collection of all of our previously published monsters, including ones that did not get full text-block treatment and some entirely new monsters, which will be expanded as we publish additional re-prints from the Westgate Adventures! line of game books.

We are going to continue to offer the book FOR FREE to all backers for the rest of the Westgate series. It will be available for sale at our normal retail outlets. Free or purchase, every copy will receive the periodic updates until the book is complete. When complete, a POD version will become available at cost for everyone to have their own copy printed if they choose. You'll only need to pay production and shipping. More on that later... For now...

Kickstarter 4: Of Hunger and Lies!

The Pre-launch page for our fourth revised and expanded reprint Of Hunger and Lies is now live! Stop by and sign up to be reminded when we launch the Kickstarter.
A creature stalks the streets of Westgate Town, feasting on the humble and brave alike! The locals believe a werewolf is preying on the ward and hire a famed lycanthrope hunter to seek out and defeat the beast before it strikes again!

But then things take a turn...

The clues don't add up, the citizens tell half-truths, and tensions are high. Maybe your are not seeking a werewolf at all but something far more sinister? Can you solve these grisly murders in time and save the folk of Westgate Town? This is no easy task, for this killer is driven by a madness shaped entirely of hunger and lies!

About the Book

Of Hunger and Lies is, at its heart, a medieval-gaslight and investigation-focused horror story that takes place entirely in a ward of a single large town (Westgate). A series of murders is happening, night after night, and the party is hired to assist a local monster hunter in tracking down and defeating the monster. Unfortunately for the party, there are very few clues to go on, and as their search continues, more and more mysteries unfold.

The reprint is heavily revised and expanded, including a large fold-out map of the ward in which the murders are happening, and brief descriptions of almost 200 locations and 100+ NPCs. Player characters can seek out clues wherever they like in a very free-form fashion. Additionally, while some NPCs have set clues that they already know, a huge list of local rumors and clues allows the GM to randomly determine (or choose) what any random NPC might know, which changes the investigation's trail with every play. When the murderer strikes, the GM can use the pre-established victims or may select from a victim table at random, making some fun variations in repeat plays. Not even the GM may know who knows what or who the next victim will be!

This adventure module is designed to be played over 1-3 sessions of about 6-10 hours average each, with 4-8 characters of levels 3-6, but can be played with any group size and at any level with just a little adjustment. Additional support for 1.5e, 2e-, and BECMI play are included. It makes for an excellent stand-alone adventure or a side adventure to an already existing campaign. Of course, it can always be the starting point for an entirely new series of stories of your own design!
